Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) participated in the 9th General Assembly of the TEF-Health Project and the xTEF event, both held in Milan in October 2025.
As the Portuguese node leader, IPN joined partners from across Europe to share progress, align strategies, and strengthen collaboration in the implementation of the Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEF) — infrastructures designed to accelerate the testing and validation of Artificial Intelligence and Robotics technologies applied to healthcare.
The General Assembly served as an opportunity to exchange knowledge and best practices regarding the work carried out in Portugal and other participating countries. Discussions focused on coordinating efforts across the project’s work packages, all working towards accelerating trustworthy innovation in healthcare.
Representatives shared progress in key areas such as validation of AI-based medical devices, joint experimentation services, and support for the certification of emerging technologies.
The xTEF event, which brought together the four TEF initiatives showcased a joint European vision for the future of testing and experimentation. These initiatives aim to enhance Europe’s capacity to test, validate, and adopt AI and robotics technologies at scale, promoting trust, interoperability, and safety.
The event marked a key milestone for the European TEF ecosystem, which is now moving into full operation.
