On May 15th, 2026, Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), in partnership with TecMinho, hosted the training session “Alterações Climáticas e ESG: Desafios para o Setor Agroalimentar”, dedicated to addressing sustainability and decarbonization challenges within the business sector.

The initiative brought together experts and industry professionals to reflect on the impact of climate change on business activities and the growing importance of ESG criteria for organizational competitiveness and resilience.

The first session was led by Patrícia de Castro Gonçalves, an environmental engineer with more than 25 years of experience in sustainability, waste management, and the circular economy. Her presentation focused on the challenges climate change poses to the agrifood sector, with particular emphasis on strategies for measuring and reducing emissions in a business context.

This was followed by a session delivered by Georgete Félix, a specialist in Sustainability Management and ESG in Organizations, who explored the fundamental concepts of sustainability and ESG, their practical application for SMEs, and their role in mitigating risks while creating access to new markets and financing opportunities.

The session also included opportunities for discussion and knowledge exchange between participants and speakers, reinforcing the importance of adopting sustainable and innovative practices in today’s business environment.
As part of the SIAC Decarbonization project, the initiative reinforced the commitment of IPN to equipping companies to address the challenges of climate transition.
