Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) will hold on 15 May 2026, the initiative “Climate Change and ESG: Challenges for the Agri-food Sector”, developed in partnership with TecMinho and dedicated to one of the most pressing challenges currently faced by companies: the transition towards more sustainable and resilient business models.

The initiative will take place in the Multipurpose Room of Building F at IPN, between 09:30 and 13:00, bringing together experts with extensive experience in the fields of sustainability, decarbonisation and ESG criteria, with a particular focus on the agri-food sector.

In a context marked by the intensification of climate change and increasing regulatory and market demands, this initiative aims to promote the sharing of technical and practical knowledge, as well as to support SMEs in understanding the environmental impacts of their activities and identifying opportunities associated with sustainability.

The programme begins with the session “Impact of Climate Change and Emissions in the Agri-food Sector”, promoted by TecMinho and delivered by Patrícia de Castro Gonçalves, an environmental engineer with over two decades of experience in sustainability, waste management and the circular economy. During this session, the main global climate challenges will be addressed, along with their relationship to the agri-food sector, as well as practical tools for measuring and reducing corporate emissions, complemented by real-life implementation examples.

This will be followed by the session “Introduction to ESG and Sustainability: concepts, urgency and global risks”, promoted by IPN and led by Georgete Félix, a specialist in sustainability management and ESG, with extensive experience in supporting organisations, particularly in the agricultural and wine sectors. This session will focus on the fundamental concepts of ESG, their practical application in a business context, and their role in risk mitigation and value creation, including implications for market access and financing.

The event will also include moments for interaction and discussion, encouraging critical reflection on current production and consumption models and promoting the exchange of experiences between participants and experts.
Participation is free of charge, but registration is mandatory until 13 May 2026, by completing the registration form available here.

This initiative is part of the SIAC Decarbonisation project, reinforcing the commitment of IPN and TecMinho to strengthening business capabilities and promoting sustainable and innovative practices.
