Within the scope of the Erasmus+ VET accreditation for staff mobility, Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) developed an international job shadowing mobility, which involved the participation of Fábio Cerejo, a researcher at IPN, at the company Amazemet in Poland.
This mobility is aligned with the objective of strengthening technical and scientific skills in strategic areas, particularly in the field of advanced materials and manufacturing processes. The experience focused on metal powder production technologies through atomisation, enabling the deepening of knowledge and the consolidation of practices associated with this process.
During the period of observation, the full workflow was followed, from powder production to its application in metal additive manufacturing processes, namely through Selective Laser Melting (SLM) technologies. This direct contact with the process made it possible to identify critical variables, configurations, and equipment characteristics best suited to IPN’s needs, contributing to future investment decisions in this area.
The mobility also included contact with specialised technical software, essential for the operation of these processes, providing an initial approach to tools used in an industrial context.
In addition to the strengthening of technical skills, this experience also contributed to the establishment of contacts with international entities, fostering future collaborations in the field of research and development.
