The Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) attended 3D Days 2026, held on 19 March at the Citadelle des Savoir-Faire in France. The IPN, represented by Jorge Corker, senior researcher at the Testing, Wear and Materials Laboratory (LED&MAT), took part in this initiative organised by Constructions-3D, consolidating the strategic collaboration between the two entities in the development of construction solutions based on robotic systems and additive manufacturing.
The visit provided an opportunity to observe the latest technological advances first-hand and to strengthen synergies for future innovations applied to the construction sector. This participation underscores IPN’s mission as a Centre for Technology and Innovation (CTI), focused on knowledge transfer and providing a swift response to the needs of the business community.
The visit to France also served as a platform to showcase the work carried out by IPN on two flagship national projects under the PT2030 framework:
- CLOOP: Focused on the on-site 3D printing of street furniture, using cementitious materials that incorporate construction and demolition waste.
- StoneForm3D: Dedicated to the digital fabrication of free-form architectural structures based on by-products from stone processing.
Both projects embody the Institute’s vision: to translate scientific research into economically viable solutions, promoting the circular economy, the digitalisation of industry, and the recovery of materials for more sustainable construction.
