Within the framework of the European SAge-Hub project, an interregional initiative aimed at addressing gaps and fostering innovative solutions for active and healthy ageing, the “Co-creation on Smart Ageing” workshop took place in Coimbra on 10 and 11 March, with the participation of Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), as a project partner, alongside stakeholders from the fields of healthcare, research, public policy and innovation.

The event brought together partners from Portugal, Spain, Greece, Romania and Finland, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration around innovative responses to the challenges associated with active and healthy ageing.
The activities began at Cáritas Diocesana de Coimbra, with an analysis of the main regional needs and challenges. The sessions focused on topics such as co-creation, Living Labs, ethics and innovation, followed by a collaborative activity aimed at identifying key challenges, changes and solutions related to digital literacy, social isolation, mobility and accessibility, based on Living Lab and co-creation methodologies, promoting a user-centred approach grounded in real-life contexts.

The second day took place at IPN, where participants had the opportunity to explore the ecosystem, experience a real-world usability test of a platform developed by IPN, and explore some of its assets.

These activities reinforce IPN’s participation in the SAge-Hub project, highlighting its role in fostering innovative solutions and creating the conditions for their development and implementation.

The workshop also helped align the next steps of the SAge-Hub project, strengthening collaboration among partners and reinforcing the role of regional ecosystems in developing innovative solutions for active and healthy ageing.
