Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) is now home to Accenture’s Advanced Technology Center (ATC) in Coimbra.
After launching its operations in Coimbra in 2023, Accenture relocated its technology center to IPN’s facilities, in line with the rapid growth of its team, which expanded from around 30 employees to more than 200 professionals in less than two years. This move reflects the consultancy’s strategic investment in a dynamic innovation ecosystem closely linked to the University of Coimbra, technology startups, and the talent pool of Portugal’s Central region.
From Coimbra, Accenture’s Advanced Technology Center provides services to national and international clients, with a strong focus on the export of technology services, an area that represents more than half of the revenue generated by Accenture technology centers in Portugal. Operating under a hybrid model, the new center is focused on areas of high global demand such as Cloud, Data & Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Web3.
According to Accenture, around 80% of the professionals at the center come from the Central region, representing more than 30 different degree programs and a wide range of academic backgrounds, further strengthening the connection to local academia and talent.
Quoted In a statement, Manuela Vaz, President of Accenture Portugal, highlighted that this expansion in Coimbra reflects the company’s “ongoing commitment to Portugal’s economic development and investment in national talent,” also underlining the importance of IPN as a growing innovation ecosystem capable of accelerating digital skills development and technological value creation.
For Instituto Pedro Nunes, hosting Accenture Advanced Technology Center represents another step in consolidating its mission to promote innovation, knowledge transfer, and the attraction of leading technology-driven companies, contributing to the creation of highly qualified jobs and to strengthening the competitiveness of the Central Region and Portugal as a whole.
