IPN - Instituto Pedro Nunes - Job Opportunity: Researcher Cement-Based Mortars and Geopolymers for 3D Construction

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) is looking for a Researcher to join the team within the scope of the project “CLOOP” (COMPETE2030-FEDER-02305400), focusing on the development of cementitious and geopolymer mortars for 3D construction technologies.

Operational functions:

• Formulate, develop, and characterize the physicochemical properties of cement-based mortars and geopolymers intended for 3D construction;
• Conduct research activities within the scope of the CLOOP project, contributing to the advancement of technological solutions in additive construction;
• Support technology transfer activities and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on experimental development tasks;
• Participate in scientific dissemination through the production of articles and technical presentations.

Profile:

• Minimum Qualification: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geological Engineering, or related fields. If obtained abroad, the degree must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of 16 August.
• Professional Experience: Relevant experience in cementitious materials, geopolymers, rheological properties, construction and demolition waste, and additive manufacturing, including participation in research projects, scientific publications, and technology transfer activities.

Technical Competencies:

• Master cementitious materials, construction and demolition waste, rheological properties, and additive manufacturing processes;
• Formulate and analyze geopolymers, ensuring proper characterization;
• Participate in research projects and produce peer-reviewed scientific work, as well as contribute to technical events;
• Use modeling tools and prepare files for additive manufacturing.

Transversal competencies:

• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary environments;
• Critical thinking, creativity, and a proactive approach to tackling complex technical challenges;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey technical concepts to non-specialist audiences;
• Willingness to travel for technical meetings and availability to start the position at short notice.
