Applications Open for the 14th Edition of ARRISCA C Business Ideas Competition

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) participates as a partner in the 14th edition of ARRISCA C, a Business Ideas Competition that, since 2008, has received scientific-based projects and awarded prizes. The initiative recognises national business ideas that transform scientific and technological knowledge into projects, promoting the creation of spin-offs and start-ups and valuing solutions with potential economic, social or environmental impact.
Applications may cover areas such as Natural Resources and Bioeconomy, Materials and Production Technologies, Digital Technologies and Space, Energy and Climate, Health and Well-Being, and Culture, Creativity and Tourism.
This 14th edition is part of the INOVC+ project, an Innovation Ecosystem for Knowledge and Technology Transfer in the Centro Region, co-financed by CENTRO 2030 through the European Regional Development Fund. INOVC+ aims to consolidate an innovation ecosystem that fosters the valorisation and transfer of knowledge, research results, and development to the economy of the Centro Region.
The competition is open to faculty, researchers, non-academic staff, grant holders, students, and alumni from any higher education institution in Portugal, as well as secondary and vocational students presenting innovative business ideas still in the concept or project phase, with or without a developed business plan.
Over previous editions, the competition has received more than 1,300 projects and awarded over 200 prizes, totaling €1,153,942, including financial support, incubation, consulting, mentoring, and training, reinforcing ARRISCA C’s role in Portugal’s innovation ecosystem. Applications are evaluated based on innovation, project feasibility, economic, social or environmental impact, scientific or technological basis, partnerships, and team experience.
