On November 19 and 20 2025, Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) hosted the 6th edition of the Innovation Roadshow of Structure for Coordination and Monitoring of Research, Development, Experimentation and Innovation in the Navy (ECA-IDEIA). The event aimed to strengthen ties between the Defense sector and Portugal national science, technology, and innovation ecosystem.
The Roadshow was attended by Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy, Vice Admiral Pedro Sousa Costa, alongside representatives from the Coimbra Municipality, idD Portugal Defence, Directorate-General for Armament and National Defence Assets, Santander, and other key organizations driving technological and economic development in Portugal.
João Gabriel Silva, President of the Board of IPN, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of hosting the Roadshow at IPN, highlighting the Institute’s role in promoting innovation and fostering collaboration between academia, the business sector, and strategic entities such as the Portuguese Navy.

The program featured brief presentations from invited companies, including EvoWorkforce, ATLoS, Twevo, Connected, Fibersight, Present Technologies, Spotlite, and ENARTIN, showcasing technological solutions with potential applications for the Navy. This was followed by a roundtable moderated by José Rodrigues, IPN’s Business Developer, with participation from idD Portugal Defence, the Navy’s Innovation and Transformation Division, and the Directorate-General for Armament and National Defense Heritage. Discussion explored challenges and opportunities in dual-use innovation and collaboration between the Defense and technology sectors. The day concluded with a private technical meeting between the companies and Navy representatives to evaluate potential co-creation projects.

On the next day, the Roadshow continued with visits to the facilities of Critical Software and the Municipal Experimentation Laboratory. The Navy delegation was welcomed by Ana Abrunhosa, Mayor of Coimbra, and Miguel Antunes, the City Councilor responsible for the area of Innovation.
