Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) is participating in the European Sage-Hub – Smart Ageing Innovation Hub project, an initiative aimed at developing innovative solutions to promote active and healthy ageing. The consortium’s inaugural meeting took place from October 21 to 23, 2025, at the MAVIS Center for Innovation & Tech Transfer, part of the “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iași, Romania.

The project brings together partners from six European regions — Romania, Greece, Portugal, the Canary Islands, Finland, and Catalonia — and focuses on creating innovation labs where companies, research institutions, and end users can test and validate technologies. This approach ensures that solutions are tailored to the needs of older adults and their caregivers.

In Portugal, the initiative is represented by IPN, the Diocesan Caritas of Coimbra, and the Health Cluster Portugal (HCP). IPN plays a key role in defining scalable business models and establishing an innovation lab in the Central region in partnership with Caritas. This space will allow small and medium-sized enterprises to test and validate Smart Ageing solutions in real-world conditions.

Through this participation, IPN reinforces its commitment to technological and social innovation, consolidating its role as a driving force in European digitalization and modernization in the field of active and healthy ageing.
