Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) is recruiting a Clinical Research Assistant to join the Automation and Systems Laboratory to N develop high-impact projects in the field of digital health, focusing on the development and validation of innovative medical devices, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI) software and robotic technologies.

IPN is currently engaged in establishing world-class Testing and Experimentation Facilities for AI and Robotics in Healthcare, embedded within real hospital environments.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of clinical investigations of medical devices;
  • Support startups in preparing documentation for clinical studies and ethics submissions,
  • Monitor the implementation of clinical investigations, usability testing, and concept validation activities;
  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory frameworks and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines;
  • Manage study documentation and data collection tools;
  • Collaborate with clinicians, researchers, and technical teams during trial preparation and execution;
  • Contribute to study reporting and communication with stakeholders.

Requirements:
  • Degree in Health Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Nursing, or related fields;
  • Experience or academic background in clinical research, preferably involving medical devices;
  • Knowledge of ISO 14155, GCP for medical devices, or MDR 2017/745 is a plus;
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills;
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English (spoken and written).
Preferred qualifications:
  • Previous involvement in clinical investigations or observational studies;
  • Familiarity with medical device development cycles and regulatory pathways;
  • Interest or experience in AI and robotics applied to healthcare;
  • Understanding of the MedTech and digital health value-chain and market access in Europe.

  • Proactive attitude and ability to multitask;
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders;

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills to identify potential risks and challenges and propose effective solutions;
  • Positive attitude, self-motivation, and willingness to learn and improve;
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
