Secondary school students experience science and entrepreneurship in a Job Shadowing day at IPN

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) welcomed two secondary school students for a day of Job Shadowing, an experience organised by Futuro à Vista.

The students were integrated into the daily life of the Laboratory for Wear, Testing & Materials (LED&MAT), following some of the laboratory techniques developed by researchers and laboratory technicians trained in Mechanical Engineering and related areas. They met researchers from IPN's Polymer Synthesis team, with whom they observed cell growth and 3D printing techniques, with each student developing their own prototype.

The experience ended in a relaxed way, with potential entrepreneurs, in a pitch training activity organised by IPN's Department of Knowledge Valorisation and Innovation, as part of its work to encourage entrepreneurship and enhance ideas and businesses.
This experience allowed IPN to demonstrate and bring young people closer to the practical reality of research and innovation activities applied to companies in a positive and inspiring way, proving to be an activity with added value for everyone involved.
