Instituto Pedro Nunes, through its Laboratory for Wear, Testing & Materials (LED & MAT), was at the ASINTEC, Centro Tecnológico de Confección in Talavera de la Reina, Spain, at the third
NABITEX consortium meeting, held on the days of May 22 and 23. This project aims to boost the innovation and development capacity of SMEs in the textile and construction sector of the SUDOE region, through the valorization of natural resources (natural fibers) for incorporation into innovative technical products. The main objective of NABITEX is to promote the incorporation of these fibers into solutions for the habitat segment (home textiles and building materials), contributing to an increase in the competitiveness of companies in the region through cooperation between different actors.
With a particular focus on the natural fibers produced in the SUDOE region, such as hemp, the project will develop and bring to the industry innovative, sustainable solutions that will strengthen the differentiation of industry in this region.
At the same time took place the 3rd Evaluation Committee, made up of Spanish companies from the entire value chain, where the project results were presented, and collected opinions and contributions of entrepreneurs to find technical solutions to the sector's identified industry weaknesses.
LED & MAT has high skills in surface modification and integration of innovative materials for the development of building components among other areas of competence.
