The Integrated Program of IC&DT CULTIVAR aims to respond to the challenges faced by the sectors of the Agro-food sector in the Centre Region, namely to characterize, conserve and enhance endogenous regional genetic resources in low-density areas, through a strategy of territorial development, promoting and consolidating collaboration between science, technology and higher education institutions and the Agro-food cluster.
Due to the conditions inherent to the constraints of the low-density territories existing in the Centre Region, and their high vulnerability to the various climate change scenarios, it is essential to approach the territory in a disruptive and differentiated manner. In this context, only through a holistic vision, which integrates the environmental, social and economic dimensions, it is possible to value the endogenous genetic resources of the Central Region and the processes that support them, and thus leverage in a sustainable way the Agrofood sector.
The Integrated Program of IC&DT CULTIVAR aims to respond to the challenges faced by the sectors of the Agrofood sector in the Centre Region, namely to characterize, conserve and valorize endogenous regional genetic resources in low density areas, through a strategy of territorial development, promoting and consolidating collaboration between science, technology and higher education institutions and the Agrofood cluster.
- To enhance and provide the Centre Region's existing centers of competence with knowledge in strategic areas, with the consequent establishment of highly specialized human resources.
- To promote and consolidate collaboration between science, technology and higher education institutions and the Agrifood Cluster, from a perspective based on the inter- and transdisciplinary nature of knowledge and innovation, aimed at creating environmental, economic and social value.
- To implement a methodological strategy for research and innovative development based on a holistic vision of agroecosystems as a support tool for decision-making processes.
- To conserve and enhance the endogenous genetic resources of the Central Region, promoting the sustainability and resilience of agroecosystems in a context of global change.
- To identify new applications and contexts of use of plant species and varieties, enhancing and valorizing the associated value chains.
- Biophysical characterization of the territory and its socio-economic and demographic dynamics
- Evaluation and monitoring of ecosystem services relevant to selected endogenous natural genetic resources
- Characterization of the innovative potential of endogenous natural genetic resources
- Characterization of endogenous natural genetic resources in landscape windows
- Sustainable valorization of selected endogenous natural genetic resources
- Dissemination of Knowledge and Dissemination of Results
