Digital therapeutics for rehabilitation and telerehabilitation still face limitations regarding usability, long-term effectiveness, integration into healthcare models and regulatory requirements. There is also a need for solutions that support patients, healthcare professionals and caregivers, reducing dependence on in-person sessions and enabling rehabilitation in both clinical and home settings.
To develop and validate a proof of concept to optimise digital therapeutics, using generative artificial intelligence to support rehabilitation and telerehabilitation.
OptinDTx - PdC aims to develop new technological functionalities for digital therapeutics, exploring generative artificial intelligence techniques and tools applied to rehabilitation and telerehabilitation. The project will further develop ANIA - Advanced Natural Interaction Artificial companion -, a technology developed by IPN, as an enabling tool for digital therapeutic solutions using artificial agents as motivational elements and mediators between patients and healthcare professionals.
The main activities include technological development, research on health innovation cycle models, proof-of-concept validation and demonstration, results exploitation, and project coordination/management. Expected results include the development of two new ANIA technology features, the study of a model for the health and care innovation cycle, the verification and validation of a prototype in a simulated/relevant environment, the involvement of at least three external partners, the dissemination of four technical-scientific articles, the submission of two patent applications and the supervision of two master’s theses.
