Healthcare and Medical Solutions Centre of Excellence

Challenge

Strengthen the existing cluster in Coimbra, known for excellent research in the area of health and a world reference in certain areas, with a main focus on enhancing technology commercialisation skills, taking science to the market and supporting companies in entering the global market.

Solution / Main Objective

Create an internationally recognised network of excellence in the field of Healthcare and Medical Solutions (HMS) to promote cooperation between businesses, universities/research centres, end users, and local and regional development agencies with a view to the global HMS market. From 2006, this network developed activities to promote cooperation among its partners, identifying needs/business opportunities, supporting the development of technologies aimed at the global markets and the internationalisation efforts of the network's players.
