IPN workshop highlights new directions in electrochemical sensors and biosensors

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) organized the workshop “New Directions in Materials for Electrochemical Sensors and Biosensors” on June 12, 2026. The initiative brought together national and international researchers to discuss the latest scientific advances in the development of materials for electrochemical sensors and biosensors.

Throughout the day, presentations were delivered on the development of advanced materials, electrochemical interfaces, and new approaches to sensors and biosensors, highlighting the potential of these technologies in areas such as healthcare, real-time monitoring, and wearable devices. wearable.

The programme included three thematic sessions dedicated to advanced materials and electrochemical interfaces, biomedical and brain monitoring applications, and emerging studies in electrochemistry and biointerfaces. The presentations provided an opportunity to showcase recent research results and promote discussion on the challenges and opportunities associated with these scientific fields.

The speakers included Rasa Pauliukaite, from the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology, Lithuania; Victor Diculescu and Adrian Enache, from the National Institute of Materials Physics, Romania; Eliana Fernandes, from Universidade de Coimbra; and Christopher M.A. Brett, Joseany Almeida, Rui Barbosa, Ana Maria Oliveira Brett, and Ana Maria Chiorcea Paquim, from Instituto Pedro Nunes.

The initiative also included opportunities for scientific discussion and networking, as well as a roundtable dedicated to future directions in research on electrochemical sensors and biosensors. This forum promoted knowledge exchange among researchers and contributed to strengthening national and international scientific collaborations.

The initiative was carried out within the framework of project 2022.06451.PTDC, funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT).
