Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) will host the final demonstration session of the SmartDispenser project on 25 June 2026. This R&D initiative is dedicated to the development of an artificial intelligence-supported automatic LPG dispenser. The project integrates innovative solutions in the fields of energy efficiency, computer vision and the modernisation of traditional dispensing systems, contributing to greater automation and monitoring of logistic processes.
The event will take place at the Auditorium of Building A at IPN, between 14:15 and 16:30, bringing together researchers, companies and stakeholders from the innovation ecosystem to present the main results achieved throughout the project and demonstrate the technologies developed.
SmartDispenser has explored several technological approaches related to the automation and intelligent monitoring of dispensing systems, including hardware and firmware components optimised for energy efficiency, computer vision mechanisms for the supervised validation of gas cylinder deliveries, and retrofitting solutions for the adaptation of traditional equipment.
The session will begin with an overview of the project and the main technological challenges addressed during its development, presented by Hélder Ferreira from Secret Blaze. This will be followed by a presentation from Bruno Caceiro, also from Secret Blaze, focusing on the hardware and firmware solutions developed with an emphasis on energy efficiency.
Bruno Caceiro, from Secret Blaze and João Gonçalves from the University of Coimbra will then present the computer vision mechanisms implemented for the supervised validation of gas cylinder deliveries, demonstrating how these technologies contribute to increasing the reliability and traceability of operations.
The programme also includes a presentation by Alcides Marques, Project Manager at IPN, dedicated to SmartDispenser Lite, a retrofitting solution designed to modernise traditional dispensing systems through the integration of smart functionalities.
The event will conclude with a networking session and a live demonstration of the SmartDispenser solution, providing participants with the opportunity to explore the project's outcomes and interact directly with the team responsible for its development.
Participation is free of charge, but subject to prior registration through the registration form available here.
