IPN promotes training on NP EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 for testing and calibration laboratories

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) is promoting the training course “NP EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 – Requisitos gerais de competência para laboratórios de ensaio e calibração”, which will take place on 29 and 30 June 2026 at IPN, Building F.

This training programme is aimed at laboratory professionals working in accredited laboratories or those seeking accreditation, as well as internal auditors, consultants and other professionals interested in laboratory quality management.

The main objective of the course is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the requirements of the NP EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 standard applicable to Testing and/or Calibration Laboratories, as well as the key stages involved in implementing a quality management system in accordance with this reference framework. The programme also aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills required to support the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of these systems in a laboratory environment.

With a total duration of 16 hours, the training will take place on 29 and 30 June, from 09:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00. In addition, each participant will be entitled to an individual one-to-one session lasting one hour, to be scheduled between 1 July and 15 October 2026, at a date and time to be agreed with the trainer.

The programme is organised into two modules. The first module focuses on the laboratory quality framework, covering quality standards, the laboratory accreditation process, the structure of NP EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018 and its relationship with other management system standards. The second module addresses the requirements of the standard, namely general requirements, structural requirements, resource requirements, process requirements and management system requirements. The content will be delivered from a practical perspective, supported by examples tailored to the reality of testing and calibration laboratories.

The training will be delivered by Sara Rodrigues, who holds a degree in Biology and a Master’s degree in Plant Biotechnology. She works in the field of laboratory quality in phytosanitary activities and has experience in the implementation and maintenance of quality management systems in accordance with NP EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018. Her professional experience includes the preparation and support of audits, method verification and validation, and the management and treatment of non-conformities within accredited laboratory environments. She is also a certified trainer (CCP F755228/2024), with experience in delivering training programmes in the areas of quality, safety and good laboratory practices.

IPN is a training provider certified by DGERT (2376/2016). At the end of the programme, participants will receive a Professional Training Certificate, provided they have attended at least 90% of the total training hours.
