Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) will lead the development of new curricula and learning solutions for the aerospace sector within the framework of the European project AEROFUSE.
As the aerospace sector undergoes profound transformations — from decarbonisation and digitalisation to increasing geopolitical resilience — IPN positions itself as responsible for designing the training response that will prepare future professionals.
Within the project, IPN also stands out for coordinating Work Package 4 – Design of the VET and HEI Curricula.
In addition to curriculum design, IPN is developing a blended learning platform. This flexible and digital solution will enable professionals and students across Europe to access highly specialised training aligned with real labour market needs.
To kick off the project, IPN hosted the project's Kick-off Meeting on 24 and 25 February 2026. The meeting brought together in Coimbra the 26 partners from 12 countries that make up the consortium, including higher education institutions, vocational education and training (VET) entities, industrial clusters, SMEs and government bodies.
AEROFUSE focuses specifically on critical niches that have often been underrepresented in previous initiatives, such as aeronautical production, satellite manufacturing, and airport infrastructure.
Funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ programme, AEROFUSE is a large-scale initiative aimed at reducing the gap between training provision and the real needs of a strategic industrial ecosystem. By anticipating future occupational profiles, the project ensures that Europe retains the talent required to lead the next era of aerospace exploration and infrastructure.
