Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) will host, on June 30, 2026, an online information and awareness session dedicated to the DigiTool4Agri project, aimed at companies operating in the agri-food sector.
DigiTool4Agri, developed through a consortium between IPN, CATAA, NERVIR, NERE and InovCluster, is a project focused on digital transformation and capacity-building for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the agri-food sector.
Operating across the Centre, North and Alentejo regions of Portugal, the project aims to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of SMEs by supporting the digitalisation of their processes and the adoption of management and certification systems. It is based on the development of an integrated digital platform designed to facilitate the implementation of standards in the areas of quality, food safety, innovation and sustainability, complemented by awareness, training and technology demonstration actions.
Key activities planned under the project include the development of an integrated digital platform to support the implementation of management and certification systems, the assessment of companies’ digital maturity, the implementation of pilot projects with SMEs, the promotion of training and technology demonstration activities, and the organisation of roadshows and awareness-raising initiatives aimed at the business community.
The presentation session aims to introduce the DigiTool4Agri project, outlining its framework, objectives and the opportunities it offers to agri-food SMEs. The programme will also feature invited experts who will address the role of digital technologies and innovation in enhancing the competitiveness of the agri-food sector. João Barata, from the Department of Informatics Engineering at the Faculty of Sciences and Technology of the University of Coimbra, will present examples of technologies with potential applications in agri-food companies. João Peça, from CFER, will share insights into innovation practices and business capacity-building approaches designed to address the challenges of digitalisation and sustainability.
The session will also include a testimonial from a company operating in the sector, presenting its experience in the digitalisation of management processes and highlighting the challenges, opportunities and outcomes achieved throughout its modernisation journey.
Participation in the session requires prior registration, which must be completed by June 29 via the registration form available here
