As part of the CHAngeing project, Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) participated in the Lifestyle Assessment Area at the Festival Tradidanças, held on 1 August 2026 in São Pedro do Sul, as part of an initiative organised in partnership with the University of Coimbra.
The activity aimed to promote health and strengthen health literacy by raising participants’ awareness of the importance of prevention and the adoption of healthy lifestyles.
Throughout the initiative, participants had the opportunity to assess a range of health and well-being indicators, encouraging greater awareness of preventive healthcare and healthy living. The activity also featured demonstrations of Portuguese technologies de signed to support disease prevention and health promotion, bringing innovative solutions closer to citizens while providing a hands-on experience with healthcare innovation.
Among the technologies showcased was GripWise, a medical device that measures handgrip strength, an important indicator for the early identification of frailty and the risk of sarcopenia. Participants also had the opportunity to explore PhysioSensing, a platform developed by Sensing Future that assesses balance, postural stability, and fall risk, supporting healthcare professionals in clinical decision-making and rehabilitation processes.
IPN's participation in this initiative reflects its commitment to promoting innovation in healthcare by helping bridge the gap between Portuguese technological solutions and their end users, while strengthening the connection between research, technological development, and society. The initiative also highlighted the importance of collaboration between research institutions, healthcare professionals, startups, innovative SMEs, and citizens in advancing health promotion and healthy ageing.
