Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) expresses its deep sorrow at the passing of Professor Maria da Graça Bontempo Vaz Rasteiro, former Vice-President of the Board of Instituto Pedro Nunes between 1997 and 1999.
With a career entirely dedicated to the University of Coimbra, she graduated in Chemical Engineering from FCTUC in 1975, where she also completed her PhD in 1988 and obtained her Habilitation in 2012.
Throughout her nearly five-decade career, she played a central role in teaching and research in the field of Chemical Engineering, with particular emphasis on Particle Technology and Flocculation Processes, carrying out her scientific work at the CERES research centre. She also held relevant positions in the governance of the faculty, serving as Director of the Department of Chemical Engineering and its Research Centre, and was also a member of the Regional Board of the Portuguese Order of Engineers and of the Academy of Engineering.
At Instituto Pedro Nunes, she served on the Board between 1997 and 1999, during which she held the position of Vice-President and contributed to the development of IPN mission as an interface between science, technology, and the business community.

The funeral ceremonies will take place today, 14 August, with the arrival of the deceased at Pereira do Campo Church scheduled for 3:00 p.m. The religious ceremony will take place at 4:00 p.m., after which the deceased will be taken to the Coimbra Municipal Crematorium.
