This gap is particularly evident in the downstream Earth Observation (EO) sector, which is largely composed of SMEs facing rapid technological change and requiring continuous skills updating.

There is still a lack of an effective model that brings together businesses, academia, public authorities and civil society to co‑create career‑guidance solutions aligned with labour‑market evolution.
ROOT aims to create real‑world experimentation environments (Living Labs) that make career guidance more accessible, relevant and effective for adults at all qualification levels, supporting informed decisions on reskilling and upskilling opportunities. The Living Labs will focus on the Earth Observation (EO) sector, a rapidly growing domain with high potential for green and digital jobs, yet often overlooked in traditional career‑guidance systems.
1. Develop a methodology to efficiently and scalably identify the career guidance needs of the project's target group
2. Enhance access to career guidance and counselling through the implementation of project living-labs
3. Enhance career management skills by creating a suite of training tools and mechanisms that promote autonomy in career choices and adaptability to labour market fluctuations
4. Support employers in identifying and developing needed skills to face the triple transition
5. Reinforce training for career guidance counsellors to better support individuals in unlocking their full potential
