Students from the University of Berkeley Undertake an Internship Programme in Startups Incubated at Instituto Pedro Nunes

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) welcomed a group of students from the University of California, Berkeley, between 11 June and 23 July 2026 for a six-week intensive internship programme, organised under a partnership with the Luso-American Development Foundation (FLAD), in collaboration with the University of Coimbra.

Throughout the programme, the students worked with IPN-incubated startups BytheLaw, Sqill, Takinobori, BlackMonsterMedia, RaceCrewAI, Present Technologies, Fibersight, and OWL Places. Working in multidisciplinary teams, they developed projects tailored to the challenges identified by each company, delivering proposals and solutions designed to address their specific needs.

The programme concluded on 23 July with the final presentation of the projects developed during the internship. Each team presented the outcomes of its work to representatives of the participating startups, mentors, and fellow participants.

Following the presentations, participants gathered for a networking event that brought together the students and the IPN community in an informal setting. The initiative fostered interaction between entrepreneurs, researchers, students, and incubated companies, strengthening the connections established throughout the programme while creating new opportunities for collaboration.

The initiative highlighted IPN commitment to promoting international programmes that connect students with companies, fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation through real-world challenges and close engagement with the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
