Instituto Pedro Nunes highlights innovation and participation in the space sector at Web Summit 2025

Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) was present at Web Summit 2025, the world's largest event dedicated to technology and innovation, which took place in Lisbon from 10 to 13 November. With active participation and a strategic agenda over the three days, IPN reinforced the positioning of Coimbra and the Central region as centres of excellence in science, technology and entrepreneurship.
In partnership with New Space Portugal, IPN showcased the talent, scientific knowledge and entrepreneurial capacity that characterise its ecosystem. The space served as a meeting point for start-ups, researchers, institutional partners and international visitors interested in the technological skills developed at the institute.
The participation was also marked by the official presentation of the ‘New Space Portugal’ booklet, held at the Startup Portugal stand. The session attracted dozens of participants and highlighted the central role of IPN in boosting the national space economy — a rapidly growing area, driven by the institute's connection to ESA Space Solutions and by a national network that is increasingly asserting itself on the international scene.

Throughout the event, IPN supported and promoted more than twenty startups from its community that presented solutions in areas such as artificial intelligence, sustainability, health technologies and digital transformation.
Among these, Granter.ai stood out, an IPN incubator that won the Best Pitch award at Web Summit 2025, standing out among hundreds of international competitors. The start-up develops a platform that identifies funding opportunities and helps companies prepare applications more efficiently. An innovative solution that is revolutionising the process of accessing funds, making it easier to obtain essential support for business growth.

IPN also accompanied the pitches of several startups in different areas of the event, including FiberSight and Spotlite at the Banco de Fomento Português stand, and Ethiack at the Startup Portugal stand, reinforcing its role in the development of high-impact technological entrepreneurship.
