Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN) Incubator received, between 15 and 17 May, the visit of Jordan Start, an accelerator from the city of Irbid, Jordan, under the Innovation Support Programme (ISP). Several members of the IPN staff provided information about the IPN incubation and acceleration processes and the services and programs provided to the entrepreneurial community. A visit was also made to HIESE - Habitat for Business Innovation in Strategic Sectors and to Penela's FabLab, a digital manufacturing lab.
The Innovation Support Programme aims to support incubators, science and technology parks and other similar organisations in the public and private sectors through the development of the implementation of collaborative projects with the Southern Neighbourhood countries (ISP-Southern Neighbourhood).
In February this year a first Twinning meeting was held, both to Jordan Start and Cultiv, located in Cairo, Egypt, where it was possible to make an initial diagnosis of need and what the specific areas of collaboration of both parties. Find out more here
Throughout this year, further visits will take place to continue the programme, identifying new areas of collaboration that may arise. Future outcomes are expected to include strengthening the capacity of beneficiary incubators and specialised staff, providing new support services for startups; increasing the number of startups in high-tech sectors and preparing them to raise investment rounds. With a view to building a more dynamic and qualified innovation ecosystem across this region.
