Instituto Pedro Nunes attended the second meeting of the European AT-VIRTUAL project in Laval, France, on November 19 and 20, 2019. The session was held at Laval Mayenne Technopole (LMT) and was attended by partners Spain, France and Ireland: CEEI Asturias (Spain), Cork Bic (Ireland), Instituto Pedro Nunes (Portugal), LMT, and two maritime safety training centers in Spain and Ireland, as well as the Spanish Tecnalia research center.
IPN is a partner in this European project to accelerate the digitization of maritime safety and security training centers in the Atlantic Region. As part of this project, which started in January 2019, the needs of maritime training centers will be analyzed and then calls will be made for startups to find the best solutions that meet the identified needs. The goal is to introduce new emerging technologies related to Industry 4.0 (Internet of Things, Big Data / Data Analytics and Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Technologies) in order to more effectively and efficiently manage maritime security in the Atlantic region.
