Science4Pandemics
Cizitens engagement digital platform for collective intelligence in pandemics

Challenge

The current pandemic has indisputably shown the importance of infectious diseases as a threat to humankind. Infections still pose a significant threat to humans, either as part of outbreaks, or through con􀆟nuous transmission in those places where they are endemic. Beyond COVID-19, Malaria, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS or bacteria (often multiresistant) remain significant causes of morbidity and mortality, and need to be addressed comprehensively if we aim to diminish their public health and socioeconomic impact globally. A possible way of empowering society against infectous diseases is through educational initiatives and a continuous involvement of citizens in collaborative research.

Solution

S4P plaotfrm aims to foster citizen education using digital gamification and AI as primary tools to generate and interpret individual and community data in a transformative manner, to enhance pandemic preparedness and generate change to decrease the toll and impact of infectious diseases in society.

Objectives, Activities and Results expected / achieved

• Development of a gamification-based and data-driven digital educational environment;

• Boost citizens’ proactiveness in pandemics collaborative research;

• New sustainable model for citizen engagement and education in pandemics prevention and management.
