Challenge

In recent years we have been witnessing a transformation in the labour market, where it is increasingly challenging to combine the training and skills of professionals with the needs of companies. In an attempt to fill the lack of people with IT skills and to integrate in the labour market motivated professionals from areas with little employability, the IPN IT Academy was created.

Solution

The IPN IT Academy is a professional reconversion free program for the information technologies (IT) area. It is aimed at people who are attending or have completed a higher education course in the areas of life sciences, engineering, mathematics, physics or similar and who have had some programming experience during their education.

After the training course it is intended that the best trainees will be integrated in the development teams of the Pedro Nunes Institute's Computer Science and Systems Laboratory. 

The second edition of the programme is currently underway.
