Powerskin+ project meeting
RTD Laboratories

The 9th Powerskin+ general meeting took place on 20th January, at Brunel University London, with the participation of the 14 partners, among them Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN), through the Laboratory for Testing, Wear and Materials (LED&MAT).

The meeting started with a reception by the project coordinator and IPN researcher Jorge Corker, followed by presentations of each work package. During the meeting, it was possible to visit two prefabricated outdoor installations where tests will be carried out within the scope of the project.

This project coordinated by the IPN aims to develop an innovative facade solution through the intelligent integration of energy efficient components, including super-insulating elements, solar energy harvesting components and active energy storage resources into a single active/passive combined management system especially designed for facade renovation in non-residential buildings.

Powerskin+ aims to be at the forefront of the first generation of prefabricated, modular, "ready-to-buy" and easy-to-install transparent and opaque elements with a sustainable structure, improved functional coatings, solutions of (active and passive) thermal energy storage technologies and integrated semi-transparent photovoltaic cells.

This project is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme.
