The kick-off meeting of the CHAngeing project took place on 26 and 27 January, in Coimbra, and counted with the participation of several partners, namely, Instituto Pedro Nunes (through the Laboratory for Automatics and Systems), University of Coimbra, University of Crete, Coimbra Hospital and University Centre (CHUC), Idryma Technologias Kai Erevnas, Colab4ageing Association and Glintt Healthcare Solutions.

Bringing together a multidisciplinary and intersectorial agenda, the Horizon Europe project "CHAngeing - Connected Hubs in Ageing: Healthy Living to Protect Cerebrovascular Function " aims to strengthen synergies between two centres for healthy ageing between Portugal and Greece.

The initiative will be carried out through science-based interventions by promoting healthy lifestyles supported by a Mediterranean food culture to prevent cerebrovascular diseases and by rehabilitating stroke patients with the support of technology-based tools.

Instituto Pedro Nunes is responsible for implementing an innovation programme in Coimbra and for managing the network of stakeholders for the co-creation of strategies for the adoption of technologies in the health area.

Throughout the project, and within the scope of the rehabilitation of citizens who have suffered a stroke, the Automatics and Systems Laboratory will demonstrate an ICT solution during a pilot project, to be implemented in the neurology service of the CHUC, which aims to support the physical and cognitive rehabilitation of patients. Additionally, this project also intends to reach all citizens, using a van that will carry an assessment tool of healthy lifestyles associated with the Mediterranean diet, where they will provide a report with recommendations and literacy for stroke prevention based on healthy habits supported by the Mediterranean diet culture.
