Instituto Pedro Nunes organized, on june 30th, the final session of the first edition of the program “Empreendedorismo5.0”, during which the participants presented their pitches. During the session, 17 projects were presented by the participants that have been developing them during the last eight weeks. The initiative aimed to promote, support and empower European citizens over 50 to start new careers and create new business projects.

In a session led by Jorge Pimenta from IPN,Luísa Bernardes, specialist in Business and Innovation at Portugal Social Innovation, spoke of “Senior Entrepreneurship: an untapped potential”. João Sanches, CEO of Trigo Saloio, underlined "the advantages of unrest" as a success factor for his business life.


“Empreendedorismo5.0” was born out of the European context initiative Silver Starters. This program is structured in two main components: online training and dedicated mentoring. Participants went through eight modules that approachedMindset and Skills, Idea and Business categories.


The project developed with EIT Health funding already has a pilot in the Netherlands and Poland, with the support of the insurance company AEGON. EIT Health is a ‘knowledge and innovation community’ (KIC) created in 2015 and belongs to the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). The association brings together 150 partner organizations (Universities, Research Entities, Hospital Companies) and brings together the brightest minds in the health field to answer some of the biggest health challenges facing Europe. Through a unique collaborative approach, the aim is to enable a network of innovators to overcome barriers, challenge conventions and place innovative products and services in the hands of those who need them most.

At Portugal, “Empreendedorismo5.0” program is an initiative of Instituto Pedro Nunes (IPN). Created in 1991 at the initiative of the University of Coimbra, this private non-profit institution aims to promote innovation and technology transfer, establishing the link between the scientific and technological environment and the productive fabric.
