The Laboratory for Automation and Systems from Instituto Pedro Nunes organized, on the 6th and 7th of November, the EIT Health Innovation Fellowship Network Alumni Showcase, the annual event where the top alumni from the various needs-led innovation programmes in EIT Health showcase their extraordinary successes, both entrepreneurial and intrapreneurial.

This cross-program collaboration activity from Fellowship Network was managed by Instituto Pedro Nunes, under the coordination of Oxford University in partnership with University of Coimbra, IESE Business School, RISE - Research Institutes of Sweden, NUI Galway, BIOCAT and the strong collaboration from all other partners of Fellowship Network, EIT Health Alumni Network and Innostars.

This intensive EIT Health Portuguese Week, had taken advantage of the amazing environment and with inspirational keynotes, showcase sessions, posters exhibition, pitches and network moments gathers more than 300 people in Pavilhão do Conhecimento.


The agenda also promoted a cross-pillar collaboration where 22 Needs-led Innovation Alumni meet up with the 36 amazing finalists of Starship, the 15 finalists of Innostarts HeadStarts and 11 of the best European start-ups of Medtech Bootcamp in an event that gathers also, industry representatives, investors, programme managers and EIT Health representatives.

On the last day of the event, we were proudly promoting the showcase of 3 of the top PhD Transition Fellowship with a poster exhibition and the top 7 Alumni from the Fellowship Network that pitched to a multidisciplinary jury under two categories – Best Junior Entrepreneur, graduated during 2019 and Best Senior Entrepreneur, graduated prior to 2019. The audience of more them 60 people had also the opportunity to select the Best pitch award.

The top 3 award teams that raised cash prizes up to 3,000€ were:
  • Best Senior Entrepreneur – NUA SURGICAL from BioInnovate Ireland, NUI Galway
  • Best Junior Entrepreneur – Breaz from MOEBIO, BIOCAT
  • Best Pitch Award form Audience – FREDMILL – Fall Reduction and Evaluation Device from StarShip, University of Coimbra
