Develop an effective and transferable model of governance for local innovation systems dedicated to fostering innovation within SMEs.
The ERMIS project enabled the identification and exchange, among the partners, of best practice tools and transferable methods for making LIS (Local Innovation Systems) effective. For example, the Pedro Nunes Institution intervention model, characterised by a close relationship between academia and industry and based on the pillars of applied R&D, advanced training and business incubation, was selected by the Technological Park of Sophia Antipolis as a model to adopt.
Over the course of the project it was possible to jointly design a governance framework and a set of methodological tools to efficiently manage LIS and maximise return on public and private investment, thus providing a reference against which local, regional, and European policies regarding territorial governance of innovation dedicated to SMEs can be validated.
