The digital economy is rapidly growing worldwide. It is the major driver of innovation, competitiveness and growth, and it holds huge potential for European entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Unfortunately, only two percent of European enterprises are currently taking full advantage of new digital opportunities (EC Europa). Although not widely known, Europe & particularly Atlantic countries have many world success stories in the digital market. Yet these success stories have the potential to grow further and the new startups of the digital economy in Europe need to be supported from their early age, to be able to adapt to and benefit from international opportunities.
ADSA encourages digital startups to go international, and thus contribute to support cooperation in the exploitation of R&D results and the creation of more knowledge-intensive businesses able to access the international markets.
Digital startups develop innovative ideas which can be put on the market very quickly. ADSA also set up cooperation between research, economic and governmental actors as the partnership comprises a mix of organizations from across the triple helix.
By helping digital startups to go international, ADSA will increase R&D investments in the private sector which is a key issue in the region since those investment rates are low in the whole Atlantic area.
